Compression garment fitting in Kalamazoo

We are about twenty minutes from downtown Kalamazoo — close enough that Kalamazoo and Portage patients treat us as their local supplier, which is exactly what we are. If you want to be measured properly, in person, by someone who does this every day, you are already near enough.

What we supply

Garments, wraps and pumps

Everything below is prescription supplied and billed to insurance where your plan allows. We carry six garment manufacturers, which means the recommendation is based on your limb rather than on what one supplier stocks.

Garments

Compression stockings and socks, arm sleeves, gauntlets and gloves, in ready-to-wear and custom flat knit — Juzo, Jobst, medi, Sigvaris and Solaris.

Wraps and night garments

Adjustable velcro wraps from Circaid, Jobst FarrowWrap, Sigvaris Compreflex and L&R ReadyWrap, plus night garments including JoViPak and TributeNight.

Compression pumps

Bio Compression Systems pneumatic compression pumps and the full range of pump garments, in 4, 8 and 16 chamber configurations. Home trials available at no charge.

Kalamazoo patients

What to know

This is our home market

Most of our Kalamazoo and Portage patients come to us in person, and that shapes what we can do for them. Same-week fittings when the paperwork is clear. Coming back in if a garment is not sitting right rather than living with it. Being measured for custom flat knit without planning a day around it.

It also means we know the local referral picture well. If your therapist is in Kalamazoo or Portage, there is a reasonable chance we already work with them.

What being close actually changes

Fit problems get fixed rather than tolerated. That sounds small and it is not — the single most common reason people abandon compression is a garment that hurts, rolls, or cannot be got on. When you are twenty minutes away, that is a short visit rather than a decision to give up.

It also means you can bring the garment in. If something is not right, we would far rather see it on the limb than have it described over the phone.

Questions from Kalamazoo

Asked and answered

Where exactly are you in relation to Kalamazoo?

8988 East D Avenue, Richland, MI 49083 — roughly twenty minutes east of downtown Kalamazoo, and about fifteen from Portage. Open Mon–Wed 9–3, Thu 9–5 and Fri 9–1.

Can I just walk in to be measured?

Call first, please. Custom fittings are booked once your prescription, provider documentation and verified insurance benefit are on file — a fitting takes real time and we would rather not have you drive out for one we cannot complete. For questions, or to pick something up, call ahead and we will tell you what makes sense.

Do you carry over-the-counter compression socks locally?

Yes. Lighter over-the-counter compression — the sort worn for travel, swelling or long days on your feet — does not need a prescription and can be bought directly from our shop. Medical-grade compression, generally 20–30 mmHg and above, does need one.

Two ways in

Therapist referral, or come to the store

Most Kalamazoo patients reach us one of two ways, and both work well.

Lymphedema therapists — refer to us

If you are a CLT or trained fitter and you measure your own patients, we want your referrals. Send the measurements and prescription and we handle the rest — benefit verification in writing, prior authorization, the order, the appeal if there is one, and shipping.

Fax 800-886-4201, or order digitally through Parachute Health at parachutehealth.com/midwestcompression. Every measurement form and sizing chart you need is in our Forms Center — 143 of them, grouped by manufacturer. If a form you need is not there, call and we will send it the same day.

Patients — come to the store

You are welcome to come to us directly, and we fit you in a private fitting suite — a room with a door that closes, not a curtain in the corner of a shop floor.

That matters more than it sounds. Being measured for compression means undressing to the limb, and being looked at closely by someone holding a tape measure. If you have lymphedema or lipedema you have probably had enough of being examined in places that were not private. You will not be rushed and you will not be on display.

8988 East D Avenue, Richland, MI 49083. Mon–Wed 9–3, Thu 9–5, Fri 9–1. Call 800-883-1549 first so we can check your coverage and make sure your paperwork is in place — a custom fitting takes real time, and we would rather not have you drive out for one we cannot finish.

Getting started
