Serving Traverse City and Northern Michigan

Compression fitting for Traverse City, Gaylord and Northern Michigan

Northern Michigan has few places that measure for medical compression in person. Patients from Traverse City, Gaylord, Petoskey and Cadillac make the trip to our Richland store because one careful fitting saves months of garments that don't fit. We measure you, order the right garment and ship it to your home up north.

Ready-to-wear stockings

Knee-high, thigh-high and pantyhose from 15–20 to 30–40 mmHg, from Juzo, Jobst, medi, Sigvaris and L&R.

Custom and night garments

Custom flat knit for limbs that ready-to-wear can't fit, and night garments for lymphedema. Worth measuring for in person, which is why it's worth the drive.

Wraps and pumps

Adjustable velcro wraps that are easy to put on, and pneumatic compression pumps for swelling that garments alone don't control.

Planning the trip

One drive, done right

Before you leave home

Fill out our new patient forms online and ask your doctor to send your prescription ahead, with the diagnosis on it. Call us to confirm everything is in, so the long drive ends in a finished fitting.

If you can, book a morning appointment. Swelling builds through the day, and morning measurements fit best. Many patients come down the night before or plan the visit around another trip south.

After you are measured

We order your garments and ship them to your home in Northern Michigan. When it is time to replace them, call us; if your size has not changed, we can usually reorder without another trip. If a garment doesn't feel right, call us first and we will help sort it out.

We accept credit cards, HSA and FSA, with itemized receipts, and we price match. Ask us to check your coverage before you come.

Questions from up north

Asked and answered

How far is it from Traverse City or Gaylord?

We are at 8988 East D Avenue, Richland, MI 49083, near Kalamazoo. Plan on about three hours from Traverse City and a little more from Gaylord or Petoskey. Open Mon–Wed 9–3, Thu 9–5 and Fri 9–1.

Is it worth the drive for compression stockings?

For medical compression, fit is everything. A stocking that is the wrong size rolls, pinches or slides, and most people stop wearing it. One careful fitting by a Certified Compression Therapist usually means garments you can actually wear, shipped to your door for months afterward.

Do I need a prescription?

Lighter compression (8–15 and 15–20 mmHg) does not. Medical-grade compression, 20–30 mmHg and above, usually does. Ask your doctor to include the diagnosis, such as varicose veins, venous insufficiency, venous edema or lymphedema.

Can I just show up?

Please call or request a fitting first. We want your paperwork ready so we can finish everything in one visit.

Lymphedema or lipedema? See our Northern Michigan lymphedema garments and pumps page. See every area we serve on the Areas We Serve page.
