The Patient Journey at Midwest Compression

When you refer a patient to Midwest Compression, we handle the paperwork, insurance and equipment so you can focus on treatment. Here's what happens from the moment we receive your referral, so you and your patients know what to expect.

From referral to delivery

  1. Referral received. You send the order through Parachute Health or by fax. Parachute orders reach us directly, and you can track their status there.

  2. We contact the patient. Our team reaches out by text and phone to introduce ourselves and confirm their information. Patients opt in to receive updates.

  3. Paperwork. The patient completes and signs our intake forms through a secure online form.

  4. Benefits check. We verify insurance coverage and give the patient a written estimate of what they'll owe before anything is ordered.

  5. Documentation. We request what the insurance requires from the prescribing provider, such as a signed order, chart notes and measurements. For pumps, this includes notes showing a trial of conservative therapy.

  6. Prior authorization (pumps). For E0651 and E0652 pumps, we assemble the prior authorization package and submit it to the insurance.

  7. Order. Once coverage is confirmed and the patient approves the cost, we order garments from the manufacturer or schedule the pump.

  8. Delivery and fitting. Garments ship to the patient or are fitted in person. Every pump is set up in the patient's home by a trained installer, who programs it to the prescription and walks the patient through a full session.

  9. Delivery confirmation. The patient signs a delivery ticket confirming they received their items.

After delivery

  • Pump check-ins. We call pump patients at 30, 60 and 90 days to make sure the device is working, the settings feel right and they're using it as prescribed. If a patient has concerns, we follow up and let you know.

  • Satisfaction survey. Patients receive a short survey so we can keep improving.

  • Garment reorders. Compression garments wear out with daily use. We track when each patient is due for replacement, usually every six months, and reach out before then. If a new prescription or updated measurements are needed, we contact your office.

  • Repairs and returns. If a garment doesn't fit or a pump needs service, we work with the manufacturer on the patient's behalf.

How therapists can help things move faster

  • Send orders through Parachute Health when you can.

  • Include the diagnosis code, limb measurements and recent therapy notes with the order.

  • For pumps, document the conservative therapy trial (garments or bandaging, elevation and exercise) and the results.

  • Let patients know we'll be contacting them, so they answer our calls and texts.
