Leg and arm swelling that won’t go away: primary care referrals

Many patients with lymphedema go undiagnosed or are misdiagnosed. Swelling that lasts 3 months or more should be evaluated by a provider who can assess for lymphedema. Chronic venous insufficiency and lipedema are common too. Once compression is ordered, we take it from there.
